A mix of serenity and fear. Be brave and step out of your comfort zone!
If you love the water and always jump at the chance to find a water activity well this is probably the coolest and maybe a little terrifying experience on the water that we have ever done.
Ah Key West, the southernmost point of the Florida Keys where the Gulf of Mexico? America? meet the Atlantic Ocean. The night kayaking tour started at 8:30pm. The guide led us to the Atlantic side of Key West. We are all within a reasonable visual distance of each other. It was a bit windy that night which I didn’t think was a big deal until I realized for every one paddle forward I was pushed two paddles either sideways or backwards. lol. My arms certainly got a work out but the times the wind took a break, the pure stillness of the pitch black water was very serene. Until I heard a siren and within seconds saw a tall ship right next to my hubby. Holy Moly! Where did you come from? Seriously, was this a ghost ship? Were we still in Key West? Turns out the ship was anchored but still!
LED glass bottom kayaks that shine & glow so you can see the aquatic wonderland underneath you was the coolest until your tour guide causally mentions that we have paddled over the ocean shelf. This part isn’t for the faint of heart. You look down and see the shelf for a brief moment and then the shelf drops into the abyss. Ok Ok I saw it, now can we paddle towards land? Oh no! the wind is back, Cuba here I come!
